BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – CONAREE FOOTBALL CLUB has taken the initiative to begin developing and nurturing youngsters at the Beach Allen Primary School through the purportedly most popular sports discipline in the world - football.

This move was initiated today (Oct.5) as officials from the Ministry of Sports, the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association, Beach Allen Primary School and Conaree FC gathered at the learning institution, where it was officially announced that the club had taken the students under its wings.

According to Timothy Morton, President of Conaree FC, the initiative is a multi-faceted approach, noting that members of the club thought it a good initiative to impart soft skills, discipline and sportsmanship in the youngsters so that they could develop into productive and respectable citizens as adults.

“We thought it productive to adopt the school so that the children that go to the school would be better in terms of their production in football. Another reason why we choose to adopt the school is that Beach Allen in particular is not based in a so called community,” he added.

He told SKNVibes that most of the students who reside in the Conaree area attend that school, hence the birth of the idea.
    .
During the simple ceremony, Principal Virgil Jeffers welcomed the position taken by the football club, noting that members of staff at the school are all about the overall development of each child on record.

He intimated that the ceremony marked that occasion where “football and education go hand-in-hand”.

“Football will indeed develop skills such as teamwork, dedication, coordination, perseverance, helpfulness, among others, both on and off the field,” he noted.

Director of Sports Anthony Wilshire challenged others to emulate Conaree FC, pointing to those areas where top flight clubs are located, including, St. Paul’s and St. Peter’s.
