SOL takes full responsibility for the gas problem

By: Jermine Abel, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A large number of vehicles had encountered mobility problems Monday evening (Oct. 17) after purchasing gasoline from F&H Frisco Gas Station in the C.A. Paul Southwell Industrial Site and petrol provider, SOL St. Kitts has taken full responsibility.

According to information reaching SKNVibes, a number of vehicles were seen immobile with hazard lights flashing at the Frigate Bay Roundabout in the vicinity the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and also in the vicinity of RAMS Supermarket in Bird Rock.

It was learnt that water had gotten into the gasoline which was delivered to the gas station on the previous day.

This publication further learned that while some of the affected vehicles had managed to make their way back to the gas station, a wrecker was hired to transport the others there.

When contacted, proprietor of F&H Frisco Sylvester Fraser told SKNVibes that SOL’s representatives had indicated that they would be issuing a press release on the matter.

Fraser explained that between 6:00 p.m. and 6:50 p.m., 12 to 15 vehicles that had purchased fuel from the outlet began experiencing mechanical problems and he had to shut down the problem pump.

He further explained that approximately 12 to 15 vehicles had encountered the problem and he shut down that pump that supplied fuel to the affected vehicles.

Asked if the supplier had indicated what the problem was, he responded in the positive but did not provide details only to say that “they have already explained to the persons who were affected by the incident yesterday afternoon”.

Fraser noted that the company has since provided rental cars for those persons who were affected as they sought to fix the vehicles that were affected.

According to the proprietor, the problem was limited to one of their two tanks, so they were able to recommence business yesterday on the other unaffected one.

He noted that the problem was with one of the tunnels that run into the affected tank.
