November 1st, 2016 -- World Diabetes Day 14th November, will be celebrated in St.Kitts with activities planned by the St.Kitts Diabetes Association.
The week of celebrations, starts on Sunday 13th November with a church service at the St.Georges Anglican Church at 9 am.
The official Launch of the week will be done by the Minister of Health. Later that evening, the executive members will be featured on a radio program on Freedom Radio, where details of Association activities will be highlighted.
On Monday and Tuesday morning, Association members will visit High schools in St.Kitts to shed light on this condition and to encourage children to engage in activities that would help reduce the risk associated with Diabetes.
On Monday evening, the Association has planned a panel discussion on National TV, during which time, presentations will be made by various panel members, including a medical specialist, an executive member of the association, a Nutrition officer and a diabetic.
There will be a Screening exercise carried out in Independence square on Friday 18th November starting at 830 am. Blood sugar and blood pressure testing will be done during this exercise.
On Saturday 19th we are inviting all able-bodied persons to come and walk for Diabetes, starting at 6 am at the War Memorial in Basseterre. Dress in something blue, the color used to represent the efforts of Diabetes activities.
We are encouraging members of the business community in particular to light up your adopted spaces and business places with blue lighting in support of the efforts of the Diabetes movement, on World Diabetes Day, 14th November.
