BASSTERRE, St. Kitts – A number of accidents took place over the weekend including a hit-and-run and one that required assistance from the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services to remove a female from a wrecked car.

The hit-and-run took place shortly before 2:00 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 5) when a rented vehicle was parked along a road in Bird Rock.

SKNVibes understands that another vehicle which was driving by, struck the parked rental nd the driver fled the scene.

According to an eyewitness account, a loud noise was heard and after looking to see what had transpired, “I saw a white jeep by the car. A man in a red shirt came out of the jeep, he looked at the car and he went back in the jeep and drove off”.

The Traffic Department was summoned to the scene where reports were taken and investigations made.

Last night (Nov. 6), at about 7:30, a young woman from Basseterre was involved in a traffic accident while driving along Cayon Street.

SKNVibes understands she is 20-year-old Lasana Liburd who resides in the Basseterre area. She was travelling west along Cayon Street when she reportedly lost control of the vehicle, swerved and crashed into a wall in the vicinity of Greenlands.

This publication learnt that the Emergency Medical Services was the initial attending unit; however, assistance was sought from the Fire and Rescue Services to remove the young woman from the vehicle.

SKNVibes understands that she was safely removed without use of a heavy-duty equipment and was take to the Joseph N. France General Hospital but has since been discharged.

While making investigations at the scene of this incident, police officers were summoned to the scene of another accident where, according to the initial report, a pedestrian was knocked down while attempting to cross the street.

That latter portion of information was false. However, according to information this media house received, two vehicles were making their way around the Baker’s Corner roundabout to head west when the one in the front stopped to allow a pedestrian to cross the road and it was struck by the one in the rear.

As far as this publication is aware, this incident did not result in any injury.
