BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JAMARI SUTTON, the young man who died at the hands of an unscrupulous gunman this morning (Nov. 7) in Cayon, was gunned down in the presence of his father.

The 22-year-old of Hermitage Village in Cayon, who had recently been reunited with family members after serving a prison sentence since January 2015 on charges of illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition, was reportedly shot at about 10:25 a.m. in the vicinity of St. Mary’s Park in Cayon.

According to reports, Sutton and his father were engaged in a welding job at a certain residence in the area when a lone gunman, donning a ‘hoodie’, approached and started shooting at him.

He was struck multiple times, including one or more times to the head and he died at the scene.

According to a police press release, investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit and the Criminal Investigations Department and technicians from the Forensics Services Unit had canvassed the scene for evidence.

Sutton death has taken to 28 the number of homicides committed in St. Kitts and Nevis for the year.
