Lodge take early lead in James Harris Cricket League

    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (November 8, 2016) -- With eight games played in this year’s edition of the James Harris Cricket League, Lodge has taken an early lead having won all their three games.

     

    In the second game played in the afternoon of Sunday November 6 at the Mansion Stadium, the energised Lodge team met the other previously unbeaten team in this year’s league, Limers (Front Street) of Mansion.  
     
    Limers batted first and made 54 for 5 from 15 overs, with Alphonso ‘Knock-dem-Down’ Hendrickson 22, and bowling for Lodge Jermaine ‘Winky’ Clarke took 2 for 13. When Lodge batted, they made 57 for 2 from 9 overs, with Jaheel Clarke 27 not out and Keithly Gaskin 14 not out. Bowling for Limers Kenneth ‘Natural’ Hazel took 1 for 16 and Kevin ‘Love Sponge’ Bradshaw 1 for 2.
     
    Lodge won by 8 wickets. In their earlier games, they beat Molineux on October 16 and Tabernacle on October 30. Their players have vowed to maintain that momentum taking into consideration that they have already beaten the defending champions, Molineux. They however have two more preliminary stage games ahead of them, as they will meet Back Street on Sunday Nov 20 and Christchurch on Sunday December 4.
     
    In the first game on Sunday November 6 Molineux came up against Back Street of Mansion. Molineux batted first and made 58 for 5 from 14 overs, with Carlton Welcome 14 and Louie William 14. Bowling for Back Street Noval McCall took 2 for 10.
     
    Back Street batting made 60 for 5 from 11.2 overs with Bernard Liburd 19 and Garry Rogers 14 not out, which also saw their star player Noval McCall brilliantly caught by youngster Quanieki ‘Mala’ Phillip. Bowling for Molineux Quincy ‘Puppet’ Taylor took 4 for 10. Back Street won by 5 wickets.
     
    Play in the James Harris Cricket League resumes on Sunday November 13 with two games on the card. In the first game, Limers will meet Tabernacle, the only team that is yet to win a game after three outings. In the second game Christchurch will meet Back Street.
