Police Press Release 09-11-2016: Report of arrests, convictions and other activities

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, November, 09 2016, (RSCNPF):  Below is a report of Arrests, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period of 08 November. 

     

    ARREST AND BAIL:   
    Arrested: Deverson Irish of Conaree Village was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Larceny committed on August 26, 2016 in  Frigate Bay.  
     
    Arrest/Bailed:-Maimona Chaudhary of Frigate Bay was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Driving without license and Driving without insurance. Bail was granted the in the sum of $5000.00 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on November 17. 
     
    Bail:
    Cannaja Bass of Sandy Point was granted bail by His Honour Mr. Benjamin but was ordered to be held in police custody awaiting the necessary documents from the sureties.  
     
    Jared Daniel -Isaac of Saddlers Village who was charged with the offence of Robbery committed on October 19, 2016 in Saddlers Village was granted bail in the sum of $30,000.00  for his appearance at The District ''B'' Magistrate Court on December 05, 2016.  Bail was granted with the following conditions: (1) The defendant is to surrender his passport to The Basseterre Magistrate Court (2) To report to the Cayon Police Station every day between 07:00 am and 06:00 pm (3)Not to interfere with any witnesses in the matter (4) Not to have any contact or communication with V/C whether by himself or through actions of servants or agents(5) Not to attend or visit Fraites Bakery or Grocery. 
     
    Court Convictions:
    In matters at the Basseterre Magistrate Court presided over by His Honour Mr. Benjamin, the following sentences were handed down: 
    Janine Liburd of Parray Village, St. Peters who was charged for the offence of Battery on September 25, 2016 was convicted, remanded and discharged. 
     
    Damian Scott of Stapleton Village who was charged with the offences of Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Cannabis with intent to supply guilty to both charges and was convicted and fined $2,000.00 in to be paid in two (2) months or in default serve six (6) months imprisonment. 
     
    William Browne an adult of Upper Cayon who was charged with Possession of Cannabis pleaded guilty to the charge and was convicted and fined $1,000.00 in to be paid four (4) months or if in default serve six (6) months imprisonment.   
     
    In matters at the Charlestown Magistrate Court  presided over by Your Honour Miss Yasmin Clarke,  Shaquiel Liburd of Newtown, St.Kitts was was found guilty and fined $3000.00 to be paid in six (6) months or if in default, serve three (3) month imprisonment. 
     
    OTHER ACTIVITY:
    Search Warrants Executed:  Police executed a search warrant in Cayon.  
     
    Traffic Accidents: There were seven (07) traffic accidents on the federation’s roadways in during the period of this report.  
     
    Citizen Safety: Police continue to conduct stop and searches, vehicular check points, searches of ferry terminals and marinas and mobile patrols around the Federation. These are being done in efforts to remove illegal firearms, ammunition, illegal drugs and instruments that can be used to commit crimes from our communities.
