BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (November 21, 2016) -- Lodge reinforced their determination to lift this year’s James Harris Cricket League trophy when they beat one of the two home teams, Back Street, by seven wickets in the second game played in the afternoon at the Mansion Stadium on Sunday November 20.

Back Street batted first and made 39 for 8 from 15 overs. Bowling for Lodge, Ricky Wattley took three for 11, and A. Johnson took two for nine. When it was the turn for Lodge to bat, they made 40 for 3 from 6.3 overs with Craig ‘Hammer’ Benjamin 29 not out, and bowling for Back Street, Noval McCall took two for 10.

In the first game of the afternoon, the boys from Nicholatown (Christchurch) came up against Molineux and batted first making 124 for two in their 15 overs with Larry Audain 68 not out and Eldeane Huggins 29 not out. Bowling for Molineux Joseph Tyson took one for 10, and Johngo Johnson one for 19.

When Molineux went to bat, they were 33 all out in 8 overs while in bowling Christchurch’s Cleon ‘Lads’ Browne took 5 for 19. Christchurch won by 91 runs.

In the remaining preliminary stage games in the James Harris Cricket League, Limers will take on Molineux in the first game on the afternoon of Sunday November 27, while in the second game Tabernacle will take on Back Street.

The final game at the preliminary stage will be played in the afternoon of Sunday December 4 and will feature the unbeaten and hot-contenders Lodge, coming out against the second placed and equally energetic Christchurch who have lost only one game.

According the League Coordinator, Mr John Palmer, that game promises to be a thriller and he is inviting all cricket loving fans to turn up in their great numbers for the game that will start at 1:00 pm.

“After the preliminary stage games we will have the game for first and fourth place played, at 1:00 pm, on Sunday December 11,” advised Mr Palmer. “The game for third and second place will be the second game of the afternoon, starting at 3:45 pm.

“The winners of those two games will meet for the final game to determine this year’s champion at 1:00 pm on Sunday December 18. We expect a record turnout for that final game as this year’s league has been generating great interest among persons in the villages between Bellevue and Lodge, even though Bellevue is not featured in the league this year.”
