Two Security Forces’ members charged with rape

By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WHILE members of the Security Forces are grappling with the current crime situation in the twin-island Federation, two of their own have allegedly violated laws for which they are mandated and were slapped with rape charges.

The two members, one from the country’s premier law enforcement agency, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, and the other from the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, were arrested and charged yesterday (Dec. 13) for the alleged rape of an individual in Nevis.

According to a police communiqué, the incident had occurred on Thursday (Nov. 3) and charges were brought against the two individuals following an investigation by the Special Victims Unit.

However, unlike the customary revelation after one has been charged, the names of the two individuals were not mentioned.

The communiqué also informed that the two accused are currently on bail with two sureties in the amount $30,000 each with a number of conditions.

They are required to report to the police station every Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., to surrender all travel documents, to have no contact with the virtual complainant (VC) in person or through an agent, and not to come within 100 feet of the VC.

Commenting on the incident, Commissioner Queeley said: “No one is above the law and  I have previously stated we will not condone wrong doing.”

He also said that everyone is responsible for their actions and would be held accountable.
