BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A young man is being sought by the Police as a suspect in this morning’s (Jan. 4) shooting which left another nursing a gunshot wound.

The incident occurred at about 8:00 a.m., when a St. Paul’s resident – who was driving an American Bakery bread delivery bus – was shot in the upper body.

A police release issued this afternoon informed that Abkim Bryan, who is also known as Nigel Phillip, “is the prime suspect” in the incident and is being sought by the authorities.

Bryan is 22 years old, weighs about 121 pounds, is 5’5” tall and is known to have last lived at Cleverly Hill, Sandy Point.

He is considered armed and dangerous and those who are aware of his whereabouts are asked to make contact with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477(TIPS), the nearest police station or the Violent Crimes Unit at 465-2241.

The shooting victim, who was transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital is still receiving medical treatment for his wound(s).

Over the past months more than three gun-related incidents involving bread-delivery vehicles have taken place in District ‘B’. And commander for that area Superintendent Travis Rogers told SKNVibes that measures are being implemented to address the issue.

“The Police have become concerned based on the number of bread van hold ups or attempted hold ups and we are putting measures in place to deal with the situation…”
