BRIDGETOWN-BARBADOS, January 10th, 2017 -- The Canadian Government funded Improved Access to Justice in the Caribbean (IMPACT Justice) Project in partnership with the Parkinson Memorial Secondary School will launch a youth assistance programme called Triple H (Help, Hope, Heal) Youth Development Programme at the Parkinson Memorial Secondary School on January 11th, 2017 at 8:30 am.
The Triple H Programme is an IMPACT Justice pilot programme which falls under the Project’s Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) component and is intended to assist 20 students (10 boys and 10 girls) between the ages of 13 and 16 years in the areas of:
(1) conflict resolution and anger management;
(2) spiritual development;
(3) making best choices in terms of social development;
(4) academic development;
(5) teamwork through sport; and
(6) dealing with community issues.
The Programme will comprise 2 weekly 2 hour sessions over a 7 week period and is being run on the school compound.
The official launch will be attended by Ms. Michele Gibson, Senior Development Officer, High Commission of Canada, Professor Velma Newton, Regional Project Director, IMPACT Justice Project, officials from the Ministry of Education and staff from the Parkinson Memorial Secondary School.
It is expected that as a result of the training programme the students will become champions for peace in their communities.
