BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS – A new radio programme hit the airwaves tomorrow, Tuesday 10th January 2017.
“Ask the Leader,” with the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, and moderated by Mr. Erasmus Williams, debuts on 102.5 Kyss Fm starting from 10am. Tune in weekly to hear Dr. Douglas tackle the burning issues facing the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, take your calls and answer your questions,” Kyss FMs Eboni Brandon informed Kittitians and Nevisians in St. Kitts and Nevis and in the Diaspora.

The “Issues” programme on Freedom FM, which is syndicated on Kyss FM from 1:30 pm to 3 pm resumes on Wednesday 11th January after a break during the Christmas/Carnival season.
Dr. Douglas, the Federation’s Second Prime Minister (1995 to 2015) is no stranger to making himself accessible to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis during his tenure as a parliamentarian of 28 years, serving as Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition.
In line with his St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Administration’s 20 years in government, Dr. Douglas introduced several programmes of good governance, transparency, and accountability.
These included “Face to Face” which allowed the Prime Minister and all his Ministers to sit in a Town Hall style setting and field questions from persons in the audience, via the telephone or the internet; “Conversations for Progress”; The Prime Minister’s Monthly Press Conference; Cabinet Press Conference, Post Cabinet Briefings, which inform of the major issues discussed and the decisions taken in the Cabinet; more regular meetings of the National Assembly; live television coverage of the National Assembly meetings and “Ask the Prime Minister.”
Prior to July 1995, sittings of the National Assembly which were rare, was only broadcast on radio and live streaming of important events programmes were introduced.
The annual National Consultation on the Economy was also introduced; the Communications Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister (CUOPM) was established as well as weekly Constituency clinics at Saddlers, St. Paul’s and Basseterre.
Also introduced were consultation with stakeholders on draft legislation before passage in the lawmaking body; regular meetings with residents and the business community and interaction with nationals in cities overseas where there is a significant number of nationals residing.
