BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A cloud of sadness hovers over the Federation and the family of the young boy who was struck by a motor omnibus a couple of days ago, as he has succumbed to his injuries.

SKNVibes understands that the seven-year-old, identified Leshawn Jones, died this afternoon while warded at the Intensive Care Unit of the Joseph N. France General Hospital.

On Monday (Jan. 9) afternoon, the lad was struck by motor omnibus HA127 in vicinity of the 4-Mile mark in Keys Village.

The vehicle – which was driven by Kevin Lawrence of Harris’ Village - was travelling towards Basseterre’s direction when Jones, who was said to be crossing the street, was struck.

He was taken to the hospital via a private vehicle where he was said to be in critical condition.

Sadly, he lost the fight for his life.

SKNVibes understands that Lawrence has been in police custody since the incident occurred. To date, no charges have been preferred against him.

Jones is the Federation’s first road fatality for 2017.
