BVI, 10 January 2017 - The Water and Sewerage Department is continuing with sewerage main upgrades in the vicinity of Mill Mall parking lot and Positive Action Drive in Road Town.

Work on this project began on Sunday, January 8 and is expected to be completed tomorrow, January 11.

Deputy Secretary for the Ministry of Communications and Works, Mr. Jeremy Hodge said, “The pipes that were there are aged and they have collapsed over a period of time. So we needed to put in bigger pipes and properly engineer them so that the sewerage can flow consistently.”

He added that the effluent was building up in the area of the Mill Mall and the Ministry had to address the situation by improving the piping system.

Motorists are asked to use alternate roads and parking spaces during this time and to drive with extreme caution in the area. To view the exact location of these closures visit www.bvi.gov.vg/roadworks

The Ministry of Communications and Works apologises for any inconveniences caused during these times as it continues to enhance the infrastructure of the Virgin Islands.
