BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – VALENTINE PARRIS of Phillips’ Village has been charged in relation to the traffic accident which claimed the life of a newborn late last week.
The incident occurred on Saturday (Jan. 14) in Molyneaux. And according to information which this publication had received, the vehicle – which he was operating – collided with a dumpster before depositing on its site.
The infant and her mother were reportedly in the back seat of the vehicle. And while the mother was taken to the hospital for medical treatment, the child died on the scene.
SKNVibes was informed by Commander of District ‘B’ Superintendent Lionel Moore that an autopsy was performed on the child yesterday (Jan. 16) by resident pathologist Dr. Nunez. He said it revealed that the infant died of a fractured skull.
He also informed that Parris was – yesterday - charged with driving with an expired driver’s license and today, he was charged with causing death by careless driving.
It is expected that Parris would make an application for bail.
The child is the Federation’s second road fatality for the year.
