BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE man who was recently taken into custody from the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport on suspicion of drug possession, has been charged.
The Police Press and Public Relations Office issued a statement this morning (Jan. 18) informing that Julian Carty of Newtown has been charged with the importation of cocaine, possession of cocaine and possession of cocaine with intent to supply.
Carty reportedly returned to St. Kitts on Sunday (Jan. 15) via the Airport and having being “detained”, was taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where he is said to have passed a number of pellets containing the illegal substance.
According to the picture provided by the authorities, the pellets number in excess of 15.
The Police Force has informed that the weight of the drugs is 971 grams with a street value of EC$629,208.
The Police has informed that Carty is likely to receive additional charges from other agencies.
They further notify that he has been remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison as his application for bail was denied.
