BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A long-standing dream of principal at the Irishtown Primary School, Jean Nisbett-Boddie, has come to fruition, as a private sector company has come forward with a partnership that would benefit both entities.

According to Nisbett-Boddie, the learning institution was seeking to partner with the business community or persons within the McKnight area who were graduates from the school and was looking to give back, to further enhance the learn institution.

The Liamuiga Funeral Home has adopted the primary institution and would provide monetary contributions to the school over the next four years.

Speaking at a simple presentation ceremony yesterday (Jan. 26) at the educational institution, the principal stated that, “We are indeed quite fortunate as our prayers have been answered. Over the years we have sought such partnerships from persons in or our very own McKnight community, in giving back to the school”.

She commended Dr. Duanne Jones - owner of the Funeral Home for his contribution, noting that there are positive outcomes from persons who were born and raised in the McKnight area.

“You have not forgotten your childhood past as a son of the soil. And so, today, we humbly and gracefully thank you for the endorsement and sponsorship and we are appreciative of your kind deed. We at the Irishtown Primary School are indeed privileged for another such adoption from a private institution and to be the proud recipients of such sponsorship.”

Though they did not disclose the monetary value of the support, the principal assured that in the years to come the school would be a unique institution enriched with learning material that would stimulate and motivate students to excel.

Dr. Jones’ mother Dorett Jones explained that she was asked by her son which institution should he make another donation too, and the choice was easy.

Reflecting on her life in McKnight, Ms. Jones noted that she grew up in the area of which she knew many of the streets, while her son was born in Fiennes Avenue and as a result, choosing the Irishtown Primary School was an easy decision.

“My son always says when you do good deeds, God will continue to bless you with more.”

This is the second such institution that Dr. Jones has taken under his wings, with the first being the Dr. William Connor Primary, which was adopted under the Premier Dental Lab.
