By: EMU, Press Release

(EMU) – St. Kitts, January 26, 2017: The Liamigua Funeral home has adopted the Irish Town Primary School to the tune of $10,000 for use in the development of the school.

Principal of the school Mrs. Jean Boddie expressed thanks along with Deputy Head Ms. Dawn Dore for the generous contribution to the school.

“You can be assured that in the following years to come this school will be that unique school enriched with learning materials that would stimulate and motivate our students to excel greatly,” stated Mrs. Boddie.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mr. William Hodge, supported the principal in her expression of gratitude. “It is a clear demonstration of private-public partnership and this is how we have to continue to support education here in St. Kitts and Nevis. The private sector plays a very important put in funding of promoting education and so we want to thank the Liamigua Funeral Home for their sterling contribution.”

Mr. Hodge also complimented the Liamigua Funeral Home on the outstanding service with which it has become synonymous.

Ms. Dorett Jones, Mother of Dr. Duan Jones, owner of Liamigua Funeral Home, spoke on behalf of the establishment. She explained that she advised Dr. Jones to give the donation to the Irish Town Primary School as a means of giving back to the community.

“I grew up in McKnight I lived in every avenue except Malone Avenue and he was born on Central Street and Fiennes Avenue. Although he was not raised in Mc Knight I suggested that Irish Town was the best choice.”

She went on to describe that her son is generous by nature. “He likes to help. He likes to do good deeds. He has kids at his heart. He thinks every child can learn and every child can do well and I am proud to be making these remarks on his behalf.”

The arrangement is a four year term of annual assistance to the school to help with the purchase of materials and necessary supplies.

Dr. Jones establishment also adopted the Dr. William Connor School.
