Tuesday, January 31, 2017 - Members of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) community interested in strengthening their professional skills can now register for any of the diverse training workshops being offered by Ballast and Capel Business Consulting Limited.

The budget-friendly workshops cover a range of topics such as Interpersonal Skills, Presentation Skills, Branding Essentials for Small Businesses, Delivering Constructive Criticism, Preparing for Job Interviews and much more.

Office Manager and Recruitment Specialist with Ballast and Capel, Elsi Industrius-Bailey stated, “Ballast and Capel is renowned for business management services, especially in the areas of recruitment and work permit processing. However, we have restructured our training workshops that can be used by individuals for personal development, or by companies for professional development of their staff.”

She said, “Employers are always looking for persons with vital soft or social skills such as effective communication, decision-making, problem-solving, time-management, analysis, and the ability to collaborate in teams, which are all considered to be as important as the technical or hard-skills that are acquired formally.”

Mrs. Bailey explained that in some cases, soft skills can position persons for a promotion, or help job-seekers to leave a lasting positive impression on a prospective employer during a job interview. She added that with its restructured training schedule, Ballast and Capel is pleased to be able to offer sessions to persons within the BVI community to help build these skills.

The company’s Senior Human Resources Consultant and Trainer, Nadia James-Harris explained that the workshop formats are divided into two halfday sessions from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to accommodate participants’ work schedules.

The first session for the year, titled “Delivering Constructive Criticism” will be held on Monday, February 6 and on Thursday February 9. It is designed to help line supervisors or aspiring managers to strengthen their performance evaluations and learn techniques to conduct productive feedback sessions with their work-teams. The deadline for registration is Friday, February 3.

Mrs. Harris said, “This session is ideal for team leaders who wish to refresh their feedback skills, or for persons who are interested in strengthening their feedback skills for professional development. In addition, we have a number of training seminars and training packages that can be customised for companies who are interested in enhancing the skills of their employees and the overall productivity of the business.”

Persons interested in learning more about the workshop series can visit the company’s website at www.ballastandcapel.com or its Facebook Page. Alternatively they can telephone 284.494.9203.
