A different formula for Black San 2017

By: Black San 2017, Press Release

Sandy Point, St Kitts (February 4th, 2017) - Black San’ 2017 is on its way and the organizers are working tirelessly to bring to the people of Sandy Point and St Kitts and Nevis another world class community festival.

This year Black San’ is turning seven (7) and like the previous celebrations it will be one to remember. The theme aptly accompanying the many scheduled events is “Black San’ Bang-a-lang: Formula 7even”.

Chair of the organizing committee, Treasa Wyatt, explained that not only will Black San’ be celebrating a milestone but also it has added a new show.

“We are celebrating seven years! Seven years of community togetherness, fun and culture, this is a milestone,” smiled Wyatt.

“This year we have chosen to even take Black San’ to the region. Over the years we have had girls from other countries wanting to enter the swimsuit pageant. Black San’ is known for being inclusive, so this year we will be having two pageants; one local and one regional pageant,” Chairwoman Wyatt explained.

The local edition of the swimsuit pageant will be held on March 4th and the regional pageant will be during the official staging of events on April 16th.

The official date of the festival is set for April 8th to April 22nd. Other events for this year’s Black San’ Bang-A-Lang include the Opening Ceremony, Elderly outing, the very popular Tractorcade, Knockshore night, J’ouvert morning jam,, Basketball competition, Football tournament, Parade and Last Lap and the  Family Carnival which was reintroduced last year..

Leading up to the celebrations the organizing body SPIRIT and the festival committee will be hosting and supporting other activities. These include a Festival Praise night in collaboration with Radical Praise and Charles E. Mills Secondary school, a Valentine’s Day take-away dinner, sports days being held the by Sandy Point Primary School and the Charles E. Mills Secondary School among others.

The organizers will like to say a special thank you to all of the sponsors who have already signed on to assist with the staging of this year’s celebrations. Black San’ Bang-A-Lang has been a success throughout the years because of businesses and individuals who have lend assistance.

“We have some great and thoughtful sponsors who have been assisting us for the past seven (7) years, some have already signed on to help this year. Sponsors are the ones who make our festival a success and we are grateful for them” explained Chairwoman Wyatt
The committee is inviting other businesses or individuals who will like to come on board to contact them at 869-664-4179.
