BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - WITH the National U-20 football team departing today (Feb. 6) and tomorrow for the final round in the World Cup Qualifiers in Costa Rica, the team is beaming with confidence and high expectation.

General Secretary of the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) Stanley Jacobs, indicated that much is expected of the team as its members begin their quest to go one step forward.

Jacobs, during a press conference held this morning, explained that the team is in a good position as it has been in preparation mode since September of last year.

Though the tournament gets underway on the February 18, the team would be engaged in a number of friendly games with local clubs in Costa Rica before the tournament kicks off.

President of the SKNFA Anthony Johnson, stated that this is an opportunity for the players to showcase themselves at a very high level.

He reminded that there would be a number of scouts on hand and a number of collegiate opportunities would be available.

Against that backdrop, he noted that the team is full of talented players who can push the Federation to the World Cup in South Korea.

Following their 10-day camp in Costa Rica, the team is expected to lock horns with Haiti on February 18, followed by Panama on the 21st and the United States on the 24th.
