BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE recent event which saw the launch of five e-Gov mobile apps also saw a college student winning a Samsung J2 Prime compliments of telecommunications giant, FLOW.

The event – which was hosted by Open Interactive – was held at the Ocean Terrace Inn on Wednesday (Feb. 15) and as part of the launch, individuals were encouraged to utilize the Twitter interface and promote the event as it was happening.

Participants were asked to use the #EmpowerSKN tagline in each of their posts. And sometime during the event, the individual with the most tweets would be declared the winner.

Open Interactive’s Stachio Williams, shortly before the winner was announced, informed the gathering that at that point, there were 1,109 tweets with a total unique reach of 11,417. The absolute total reach, he said, stood at 75,002 with an average of 6.6 posts per hour.

And Zhavier Shaw – one of the many students of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College who were present at the event - offered thanks for the prize. He expressed that he “put in a lot of hard work” and his fingers were hurting from all the tweeting, noting that it was worth it.

FLOW’s Retail Sales Manager Anthony Morton congratulated Shaw on his win and encouraged him to “keep on tweeting”. Williams also offered congratulatory comments.

FLOW’s involvement in the launch event also included a presentation made by Morton on some of the data and other packages offered by the telecommunications company as well as it provided a number of devices on which the five e-Gov apps could have been and were tested out.

The mobile applications which were launched are: the Crime Prevention App, the SKN Shopper App, the SKNIS News App, the Government Directory App and the National Events App.

FLOW – as was indicated during the event – has committed to wave all data fees for the use of the Crime Prevention App as well as the Government Directory App.
