BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – COMPETING in the CONCACAF Championship in Costa Rica, St. Kitts and Nevis Under-20 football team exited the tournament without any solace as they were again hammered; this time 4-1 by the United States.
With the team already eliminated from the competition after suffering two losses, the Sugar Boys were looking to end the competition with a consolation victory, but that was not meant to be.
The United States drew first blood through Brook Lennon in the 16th minute and Jonathan Lewis doubled the score four minutes later.
The proverbial ‘salt’ was rubbed into the wound of St. Kitts and Nevis when Sebastian Saucedo netted a double in the 35th and 41st minutes, pushing the lead to 4-nil at the halftime break.
Romario Martin 77th minute strike was the consolation for the Sugar Boys as they suffered their third consecutive defeat in the competition.
Team St. Kitts and Nevis along with Haiti were eliminated from the group after Haiti were brushed aside 3-1 by Panama.
The Sugar Boys failed to register any point in their two opening games after being mauled 5-1 by Haiti and trounced 4-nil by Panama.
