Eulogy

KITTITIAN ICON PASSES MARY CHARLES-GEORGE O.B.E PASSES ON On Tuesday evening, March 18, 2008 Mary Charles-George bade farewell to her earthly home and passed on to the great beyond. She will leave her name in the history of this country not only on the MARY CHARLES HOSPITAL at Molyneux which was named after her, but in the annals of political history as the first female to dare to run for office in a political election (1971)

She will be remembered by the thousands of children she taught during her 53 years of service in Education in St. Kitts. Her teaching assignments as Assistant Teacher and Principal took her to schools in Estridge, St. Pauls, Trinity, Molyneux, and to the George Moody Stuart School after her retirement.

She also served in schools in St. Croix, USVI During her almost 95 years on earth, Mary Charles-George was extremely active her community and in her Church (the Estridge Moravian Church) and received many awards and honours. She also raised five nephews – children of her sister Isa Isaac who died prematurely.
