It is her belief in many things that has developed her unwavering character. She believes that good always triumphs over evil; she believes it was indeed the chicken before the egg but most importantly she believes that music is so powerful it can take full control of our mind and body, mold and strengthen us as individuals.
This summation gives us a glimpse into the world of 21 year old Sahira David a proud Sagittarian hailing from the indomitable town of Sandy Point. Currently employed as an Accounts Clerk at the Ministry of Information and Technology, Sahira views this as another step in her journey towards attaining a Bachelor of Science in Business/Information Systems. Growing up, she has always heard persons describe her as “something else”. She takes no offense in this description; instead, she wears it with honor, believing that we are not all meant to be the same for it is our uniqueness that makes us all special.
At the four educational institutions she attended, namely, the George Dixon Pre-School, the Sandy Point Primary, the Sandy Point High School and the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College, she ensured that she made a positive and lasting impression; not only in the academics but in numerous school activities such as debates and various community clean-up programmes. As a member of the school choir, the dance group and the Young Leaders’ Organization, Sahira ensured that whilst she honed her skills she was also able to give back to her community.
Her most recent accomplishment as co-host of ‘Kittitian Superstar 2008’ was an experience which certainly propelled her to deepen her appreciation for the power of music and its variations. Indeed, a passionate lover of music who makes it no secret that “music is her medicine”. As a matter of fact, she is of the firm view that music can help today’s youths who seem to have little purpose in life.
It is quite undeniable that music is a powerful influence on our lives; it creates a sense of comfort and promotes positive and productive youth development.
