Young Kittitian aims for the stars

By Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - BEATS, beats and more beats are what ring in this young man’s head everyday and all day as he aspires to be a music producer.

He is 20-year-old Antoine 'Zaggadon' Adams, who said his ambition is to become one of the greatest music producers. He hails from the Green Valley area, officially known as Cayon, but currently resides in the US.

According to Adams, he was exposed to music at a young age because his father was a member of a band and he would often hang around the band-room during their practice sessions; not that he had a choice.

Adams said he started out playing the drums and later “messed around” with other instruments including the keyboards.

Adams doing what he does best
It was at age 10 while interfering with some of the instruments and equipment in his father’s band studio that Adams realised he had musical talents. Someone had left an equipment on and curiosity got the better of him. He started tinkering with the equipment and within 30 minutes he had rearranged and programmed the music of the Nu Vybes’ ‘Sugar’ song, much to the surprise of his father and other members of the band.

Adams said he then took up music as a pastime and started making various beats and doing small projects. However, recognition of his ability became widespread after he produced the beat for local artiste Ifamous’ song, We Miss You.

He is also known for his latest work on Hi-Light’s mixtape of which he produced ‘Choices’ and ‘From Me Born’.

Determine to make this his ‘bread winner’, the young producer is working on a number of local, regional and international projects.

“My main goal is to provide and produce music for everybody and as much genres as possible. There is no limit on what I do,” said Adams.

His producing skills include Hip Hop to R&B, Dancehall, Inspirational, Gospel, Soul, Reggaton, Acoustic and Reggae.

Fans as well as interesting buyers and leasers can look out for a teaser of his first album of instrumentals later in October, which will be dubbed ‘For the Lovers-Old School Edition’.

“This will feature about eight to 12 songs and gives me a chance to show the more sentimental side of me,” Adams said while adding that the second instrumental album would follow in a dancehall style.

Some of the beats which he has produced so far, include ‘Fast it up’, ‘This Feeling’, ‘Me and You’, ‘My Cry’ and ‘Sky is The Limit’- all of which can be bought or leased.

All of his beats and other information can be viewed on his website at zaggadonproductions.com.
