National Carnival Queen contestant Gallio Gumbs Contestant # 1

Press Release

The 25 year old beauty, Ms. Gallio Benoni Gumbs received a love of life from her biological parents Mr. Calvasin Hamilton and Ms. Rhoda Tweed on May 4th 1984 in Nevis.

However, as Ms. Tweed is mentally ill, Gallio moved to St. Kitts at a tender age and was later adopted by Walford and Georgina Gumbs who not only gave her the opportunity to be raised in the prominent Bird Rock neighborhood; but also gave her joy, a meaning to it all, and a life of love.

Thus, it was Gallio’s moments of sadness and happiness that made her decide early in life she would devote her intellectual ability; and use her extraordinary capacity for hard work to excel in school and become a success, which is evident with Gallio recently obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the Universidad de Oriente, Cuba.

Although, she is not a Psychologist by profession to date due to reasons beyond her control, she started her career as a Chiropractor Assistant at Carib Wellness; and is presently a Social Project Coordinator at PDVSA SKN LTD. The emotional and social pressures Gallio faced has taught her to look up to people others looked down on because we are not so different after all.

As a result, she used her social gift to participate in cultural events and community based activities while in Cuba; and immediately returning home she became a Member of the Cuban Alumni Association, and is also the President of the Shaping Our Society Club where she promotes the advancement of the members of the two organizations; youth in general and the country at large.

It is Gallio’s passion for human development and nation building why she intends to pursue a Master of Science Degree in Social Psychology so that she can better understand how individuals are influenced by other human beings in order to assist the Government with the crafting of effective social policies and devising strategies.

It is on this same premise that Gallio is elated to use the National Carnival Queen Pageant to address her platform “Youth Delinquency”.
