BASSERTERRE, St. Kitts - MANY would find it hard to believe that Jamaica, an island where the people are known for strongly criticising gays was the winner of a Gay Caribbean Pageant held last week-end in New York.
According to CaribWorldNews .com, Mimi Mancini walked away with the crown after giving the crowd a jaw dropping experience in the talent segment, performing an impersonation of dancehall queen Lady Saw.
In second place was Vanessa Flowers of Guyana, who was said to be favoured in the Swimsuit segment; so was the representative from St. Lucia who tied with Flowers for Best Swimsuit.
Third place was awarded to Frantica Boujourles of St. Lucia while Rehanna B. of Barbados came in fourth and Madame Fleur De Fleur of Martinique came in fifth.
The five contestants all appeared in full female attire during every appearance. They were judged in the categories of Talent, Couture Swimwear, Evening Wear and Interview.
