The Westchester Knicks’ fifth season is in the books. The team accomplished a lot and continued to build a top notch developmental organization.
The Knicks went 29-11 during the 2018-19 season and saw 23 players suited up in the Dub Knicks’ blue and orange. Westchester finished with the sixth best record in the NBA G League, while seeing three players earn a combined four NBA call-ups.
The four call-ups tied a G League season high with six teams (Capital City Go-Go, Erie BayHawks, Memphis Hustle, Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Sioux Falls Skyfo deandre ayton jerseyrce and South Bay Lakers). In the past two seasons, Westchester has produced the most call-ups (nine) and are tied with the third most amount of wins with the Long Island Nets.
The Westchester Knicks honored all of their call-ups by hoisting a call-up banner at the Westchester County Center. Kadeem Allen was the first call-up of the season when he signed a two-way contract. He made his Knicks debut on Jan. 28 and recorded eight points, five rebounds and Ben Simmons Jerseysthree assists.
John Jenkins earned two call-ups and signed a two-year deal with the New York Knicks. After Westchester’s season came to an end, Billy Garrett became the third player to be promoted to the Association. Garrett stated that it felt great to get a chance with the organization that gave him a shot.
Four players were assigned to Westchester during the season. Two of those assignees, Trevon Bluiett (New Orleans Pelicans two-way player) and Kenrich Williams, were with the team via flex assignment from New Orleans. Luke Kornet saw time with Westchester early in the season then carved out a role with New York after the team’s Christmas game. Westchester started out the season with 95-92 win over the Maine Red Claws. The Knicks went 7-3 in their first 10 games and trampled the Wisconsin Herd by 56 points, which was the largest margin of victory in franchise record.
That was one of many franchise record that was seen during the season. The Knicks won a franchise record seven consecutive games. Five of those wins were by double digits.
John Jenkins put up an impressive 41-point performance against the Lakeland Magic and became the only Westchester Knick to record multiple 40-point games in the Knicks’ blue and orange. Stephen Zimmerman’s 20 rebounds and Jameel Warney’s 19 rebounds are the top two individual rebounding games in franchise history.
Along with that, there were several players who added their names to certain lists. Allen became the second Westchester Knick to record a triple-double, along with Xavier Rathan-Mayes. Garrett became the third Knick behind DaJuan Summer and Trey Burke to named Player of the Week.
Garrett became the first tryout player to earn an NBA call-up. Isaiah Hicks (tied for second with 15) and Zak Irvin (seventh with 10) are two of seven players to record 10 or more double-doubles during their Westchester careers.
Garrett played in his 101th game and Paul Watson suited up in his suns jersey valley 98th game, which showed that both players played a significant role in the growth of the program. Before the final home game of the regular season, Garrett addressed the crowd at the Westchester County Center on Fan Appreciation Night. The Knicks wrapped up their fifth regular season with 105-94 win over the Maine Red Claws.

Numerous members from the New York Knicks’ organization came out to the Westchester County Center to show their support for the Dub Knicks throughout the season. Trey Burke and Luke Kornet took in the action in January, while Jenkins was on hand for the team’s playoff game.
Six players, along with New York Knicks Vice President of player development Craig Robinson, Knicks’ President Steve Mills, Knicks’ General Manager Scott Perry, and Westchester General Manager Allan Houston, were in attendance for Westchester’s home playoff game. Mudiay gave a shout out to the Dub Knicks as well. Billy Garrett and Mike Miller detailed what the support from the big club meant and the connection between the NBA and G League team.
It was an eventful season for the Westchester Knicks. Not only did the Knicks see great success as a team, but the organization continues to put players in the best position to succeed. Three players earned NBA call-ups, while several Westchester took advantage of their increased playing time.
