@SP. Yes, i know that the brown pelican is the national bird but i figured that if those birds were pelicans then their beaks would shape a little differently. Thanks.
SP to de Bone  *  22-Sep-2014
Great toon!!! The brown pelican actually is our national bird and not the color of our skin. The Black man with the broken shackles is a representation of us as a people breaking away from slavery and continuing to progress. Other than that I agree with Rhyming Time...great interpretation

Why is "sill" as opposed to "still" spent wrongly?

I will leave the rest interpretation to the others like why the guy is in space, why he's on top of the clouds, why he still has a shackle on one hand, why he's wearing our flag as a skirt and why he is so black. I mean that's the blackest black ever. At least he teeth white duh. Dont take this the wrong way people but im just glad that the flag didnt take up the whole frame. I have seen too much of that now. I needed something original and this is original.

The clown mask is also linked to culture. The clock is a symbol of time or years passed. Either that or Mr. Toonman is telling us that that's the time he completed the toon last night. The fact that the clock is round signifies continuity which emphasizes the "on the move" and "running" theme. The birds, which are usually a symbol of hope and liberty, are painted brown to depict the colour of our skin. The top right shows a banner displaying the number of years of independence.

"Freedom" and "Independence" is written in our history book. The falling away of the chains signifies freedom. The canon represents our historical site Brimestone Hill. The masquerade portrays our culture. The ground with all its curve illustrates movement. Will interpret the rest later.

I'm going to break my rhyme / For this periiod, for this time /Mr. Toonman did a great job with this one here / The way in which he demonstrated our 31st year.
