Continuing to promote from within, Cable & Wireless has announced the appointment of Mr. Jonathan Bass as Vice President Finance. The appointment which took effect from April first, comes following the transfer of the former holder of the post Mr. Richard Henry, to Cable & Wireless Grenada.
A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by profession, Mr. Bass has had a distinguished career in accounting locally as well as a two-year stint in Cable & Wireless Anguilla. His tenure at Cable & Wireless started in 1999 when he joined the organization as Financial Accountant. He has also worked in a regional capacity as Business Controls Manager working with the East Area Team based in St. Lucia.
"I am pleased to serve Cable & Wireless at this level, having benefited from 8 years' experience in various capacities in the organization." Responding to a question of challenge, Mr. Bass agreed that given the changes brought about by liberalization coupled with the current emphasis on corporate governance his role will be critical, but is confident that with the support of his immediate and other staff he would surmount the challenges.
Offering congratulations to Mr. Bass on behalf of the Board of Directors, Management and staff of Cable & Wireless, Chief Executive, Patricia Walters said, "this is another proud moment for me to welcome another son of the soil to Cable & Wireless' senior management team. Your appointment to this position solidifies Cable & Wireless' strong record of entrusting the leadership of its business to Caribbean nationals. I have every confidence that you would perform creditably in this role, having acquired a wealth of experience over the last several years."
Mr. Bass is an alumnus of the University of the Virgin Islands and is married with three children.
