BASSETERRE, St. Kitts –THE events marking Financial Literacy Month this October continue with an exhibition and educational display in the Charles Halbert Public Library from October 13-18.

Deputy Director of Corporate Relations in the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), Sybil Welsh told SKNVibes that the exhibition will be an additional effort to sensitize the general public on financial matters and that the library is the ideal place for the public to get information. The display would serve to bring information about financial products and services, proper management of money, and investment and savings tools to the large target market that the library attracts.

“It is critical that we hear of the uncertainties of the US market, troubles that small business owners face in accessing funds and the services of the ECCB to see how they are all aligned, in some way, to our daily lives. And so the information offered at the exhibition can help individuals to fully understand how to survive in a changing financial world.

“We don’t want to wait until it starts to greatly affect us to start addressing it. In fact, it is really the vision of Financial Literacy Month to empower the public to be able to save, spend and invest wisely. We are passionate about this as ECCB is entrenched in the community.”

Welsh noted that would be areas set up for children, teens and adults and that handouts, books and brochures would be distributed. Interested persons could also observe the finance-oriented visual aids of the various financial institutions. The general public is urged to come out to support the effort as it is promised to be an enlightening and informative experience.

Deputy Director Welsh informed that there are plans to set up a permanent section of the library to give others the opportunity to be educated on the financial services and products even after the exhibition has ended.
