Q:  What makes you unique?

A:  There are many attributes that distinguish me but I would have to go with a quality that others have recognized in me even before I knew I possessed it and that is my strong silent personality. I have come to realize that I cannot be easily broken even though I appear to be fragile. I feel that I possess a strong sense of humility which controls my powerful emotions. So in the worst of times I am a fort and a pillar of strength for family and friends. (Laughter) Yes it may sound corny but I tend to keep my fears to myself but share my strength with others.

Q:  Where are you from? If you were to use two adjectives that best describe your community and best describes you as a person what would those adjectives be?

A:  Well, I’ve changed residence but when asked that question, I always say I'm from St. Paul’s. Two adjectives which describe me and that community would be two simple but powerful words; beautiful which describes both our external features and determined which BEST describes our character.

Q:  To whom would you attribute your success (es) in life thus far?

A:  Well this might sound a bit odd but I would say my little brothers. My mother and cousin Velma must also without a doubt be named for they too have contributed, but my brothers are the ones that fuel me with purpose without which I wound have no reason to aspire to a better life. As the oldest of my mother’s children I have great responsibilities. My family has done everything in life to give me the opportunity to succeed and I could have done like some and not seized it. But I saw two reasons to persevere and like I said they gave me a drive to do well. Because I want the best for them, I try to be a good example for I do not believe in leading people down a path that you yourself will not follow. I aim to be a person not of success but a person of value and values, in the hope that that is the path they too would follow. Anyone who knows me well would always hear me speak of those two and would know everything I do is for them and because of them.

Q:  What do you hope to gain by participating in a pageant of this nature?

A:  My participation is not all about gain but what I can contribute. I want to be part of the celebration of our 25 years of independence. And I decided to contribute by competing in this prestigious pageant. I was not going to let this momentous event pass without being a part of it.

Q:  What does Independence mean to you on a personal level?

A:  One should realize that one of the greatest gifts you can give to a person are the wings of independence for that makes way for the roots of responsibilities. On a personal level independence forces me to develop and improve myself; it opens my mind to the possibilities and opportunities that are available to me as an individual. It also means that I have the authority to take charge of my own life but with great authority comes great responsibility. I am responsible for the development of my social self, the creation of my own identity and my own means of survival. So in a nut shell independence means being able to take charge of my destiny by taking opportunities that would not only lead me to greater responsibilities but also to great self sufficiency.

Q:  What other significant achievements would you like to see in the Federation over the next 25 years?

A:  There are many things I strongly believe we are capable of achieving over the next 25 years but I’ll briefly touch on two that are close to my heart. Firstly, a significant decrease in the crime rate but to achieve such a goal, both political parties must put aside their differences, insecurities or whatever word you choose to describe the rift between them and work efficiently to curb the dangerously increasing crime rate that is stifling our nation.  Additionally, I would love to see the nation become more involved in international trade. It would be great for us to become more self sufficient which would greatly decrease our import bill.
