Miss Silver Jubilee Independence contestants officially introduced to public

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – CONTESTANTS for the Miss Silver Jubilee Independence Pageant were officially introduced to the public and given their sashes on Friday evening during a special ceremony at Independence Square.
The six beauties, all dressed in white and silver, were well-received by a large crowd that gathered in the square at around 7:00 p.m.
Janetta Shoy, the contestant representing Sandy Point, is Miss Hospitality while Venetta Zakers of St. Paul’s is Miss Unity. Felicia Silcott, from Key’s Village is Miss Eco-Friendly and Kimani Phillip of Half Way Tree is Miss Diversity.
Cindy Liburd of Nevis is Miss Patriotism while Sheona Mills of Basseterre is Miss Serenity.
The Hon. Sam Condor, Minister of Education, Youth, Social and Community Development and Gender Affairs, who spoke at the ceremony, thanked everyone for going out and supporting the contestants and also the nation’s Independence celebrations.
The six contestants are said to have graced the stage on several occasions as top models and, with that experience along with their high level of intellect, would bring talent and skills, embraced by a confident personality, to the 25th Anniversary Pageant.
Chairperson of the Organising Committee Julie Martin told SKNVibes that for this pageant, when compared with the fashion modelling.
“The pageant consists of contestants that are pre-dominantly models, so already they have an advantage in the competition,” she said.
The winner of the pageant will receive a combination of prizes including a cash prize, prize trips, jewellery, clothing, lunch at the finest restaurants in St. Kitts and more.
The contestants will compete in several segments including a Motivational Speech on National Building, Red Sail Sports Swimsuit, Jubilation 25 (Costume Segment) and the Belle of the Ball Evening Wear.
Martin also said not only would the Evening Wear segment feature local gowns, but the contestant would also showcase gowns from regional designers.
Sponsorship that have been received so far comes from The Cable, Disseminate It, S. L. Horsford & Co. Ltd., UTS CariGlobe (Chippie), Dynamic Distributors, BAF, Sugar City Rock, Brisbane Productions and Little House Productions of Antigua.
