Retail prices of Unleaded Gasoline as of 17th July 2008

The General Public is hereby advised of the following retail prices of Unleaded Gasoline as of 17th July 2008.

Delta Service Stations $18.59 per gallon
Shell Service Stations $16.75 per gallon
Texaco Service Stations $16.18 per gallon

Please note that these are the maximum retail prices at which Unleaded Gasoline can be sold at the respective company’s service stations.

Heritage Month Activities (BVI)

The Ministry of Education and Culture and the Heritage Month Committee are inviting the general public to Gospel Fest 2008 on Thursday, July 24 at the Festival Village Grounds at 7:30 p.m.  The event will feature regional artists such as Vessels of Honour (Dominica), and Wendy Mitchell (Trinidad). Local artists will include Melanie Amoro coming from Florida, Dominion, Joy Praise and Adoration.  This year’s theme is “Anticipating a bright future, paying tribute to our past while celebrating our culture”.  Other activities include:

BVI Tourist Board to Launch Exhibitions

The general public is being invited to the official launch of two exhibitions on Thursday at the Lower Estate Sugar Works. One of the exhibitions will depict David Turnbull’s Drawings of the Virgin Islands Child’s World 1838 to 1960s which provides a historic look at the toys and chores that BVI children would have experienced during the period. The other exhibition titled, Musical Instruments (Global) will feature a variety of instruments from throughout the ages and around the world.

The Honourable Irene Penn O’Neal will officially open the exhibitions. Thursday’s ceremony begins at 4:45 p.m. at the Lower Estate Sugar Works and will include a musical presentation by Mr. Berrisford Smith and other musicians. The exhibitions will be mounted until August 31, 2008.

Public Eye Television Programme to Resume in August

The Department of Information and Public Relations is advising the general public that Government’s Public Eye television programme will resume in August.  Therefore, the public is encouraged to tune into the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College’s channel 52 weekly on Thursday evenings between 8 – 9 p.m. starting from August 21, 2008.

Additionally, the public can view Government programmes between 7 – 9 p.m. daily on channel 52 beginning on August 11, 2008. For more information about the Public Eye programme or to suggest topics for discussion or events you wish to be re-broadcast contact the Department of Information and Public Relations at 468-3701 ext. 2139.

Hours for Electoral Offices

The general public is asked to note that the Electoral Offices in St. Kitts and in Nevis will now be open for extended hours to facilitate the timely confirmation of registered voters.

The new hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. The office will now also open on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

All are encouraged to take advantage of these extended hours to confirm their registration under the new electoral system.
