BIOGRAPHY
 
Cedric Roy Liburd was born in St. Peter¹s parish, St. Kitts and was educated at St. Peter¹s Primary School and Basseterre Senior School.
 
Active in the community, Minister Liburd is a devoted member of St. Peter¹s Anglican Church and a former officer of the St. Kitts Lions Club. An avid sportsman, he was President of the St. Peter¹s Football Association and Manager/ Player of the St. Kitts Domino team to the 1994 World Tournament in Guyana.
 
Following a successful 20-year career in the insurance business culminating in his appointment as Clico Agency Manager for St. Kitts-Nevis and Anguilla, Cedric Liburd was elected to Parliament in Labour¹s sweeping 1995 victory. Appointed Minister of Communications, Works and Public Utilities in the new government, he was responsible for many successes including the reconstruction of the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport, resurfacing of the Island Main Road from Cayon to Sandy Point via St. Pauls, drinking water improvements, and the electricity expansion programme. As the Chief Negotiator for St. Kitts-Nevis on the OECS telecom-munications negotiating team, he helped dismantle Cable & Wireless¹ exclusive telecommunications agreement.
 
For his community involvement and ministerial successes, Cedric Liburd was acclaimed "The Action Minister" and named Man of the Year by the Leeward Times in 1999.
 
Re-elected in Labour's All-8 triumph in 2000, Cedric Liburd was appointed Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Co-operatives, Lands and Housing, and a member of the team that negotiated the relocation of Caribbean Star Airlines headquarters to St. Kitts.
 
Minister Liburd's vision for agriculture has created new life in both St. Kitts and the OECS where he has made the case that we must link agriculture with tourism, and trade in agricultural produce amongst member states must become a reality.
 
In 2004, Cedric Liburd was re-elected to serve his third consecutive term as Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher #8 (Cayon, Conaree, Monkey Hill) and was appointed Minister of Housing, Agriculture, Fisheries, and Consumer Affairs.
 
Cedric Liburd and his wife Veronica are proud parents of a son and three daughters.
