BIOGRAPHY
Nigel Alexis Carty was appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Sustainable Development, Information and Technology in the Federal Government of St Kitts and Nevis on 30th October 2004.
He acceded to the office of Senator in the Federal Parliament on December 15, 2004. Minister of State Carty has been charged with responsibility for the subjects of Information and Technology.
Minister of State Carty is a member of the Cabinet Sub-committee on the Transition of the Sugar Industry; the Public Policy Development Unit and the Policy Advisory Committee.
Minister Carty, as a Fulbright Scholar, in May 2004 completed a M.Sc in Computer Science specializing in Software Engineering and Networking at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science in 1998 at the University of the West Indies (UWI) and won the University Prize for Mathematics. Minister Carty also won a number of academic awards at the U.W.I. In 1993 he received his professional Certificate in Education from the UWI.
Before his formal entry into the political life of St Kitts and Nevis, Minister Carty worked as a teacher from 1989 to 1995 and as the Director of the Management Information Systems within the Ministry of Education from 1998 to 2004.
Minister Nigel Carty was born on July 16, 1970 and now resides in a small settlement; called Harris Village, on the Island of St Kitts. |
