Armed bandits hit another delivery truck

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – COWARDLY, unscrupulous, criminal elements in the society continue to plague the business community, as an employee of another delivery truck was robbed on Friday, July 16, 2010.

     

    Reports reaching SKNVibes state that an employee of Ocean Cold Storage, situated at the C.A. Paul Southwell Industrial Site, was robbed of an undisclosed sum of money by armed bandits in Saddlers Village.

     

    According to a police press release, officers responded to a report of robbery that occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. in Saddlers Village.

     

    “Investigations revealed that three masked persons, two of whom were armed, demanded money from an employee of a delivery truck which was in the process of delivering goods to a shop. The employee handed over one black bag containing a sum of money. No one was injured. Investigations are ongoing,” the release said.

     

    It also said that police are appealing to persons with information on this crime to call the St. Pauls Police Station at 465-2681.

     

    In an appeal to the business community, the police release states, “Once again, we are appealing to business places to initiate safety measures to discourage these occurrences.”

     

    This has been the third robbery of delivery trucks in St. Kitts within 19 days.

     

    On Monday, June 28, at about 12:40 p.m., masked, armed gunmen robbed a Carib Brewery delivery truck in Ottleys Village of an undisclosed sum of money and a cell phone.
     
    The second robbery occurred on Monday, July 5 at approximately 12:45 p.m. This time, O.D. Brisbane was the victim. This media house was informed that three masked, armed men robbed the occupants of the delivery truck of some EC$2 400.

     

    Three suspects were held and had been assisting police with their investigations into this robbery, but no word has since been heard if they were released or charged.
