BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ENTREPRENEUR Simone Mestier of Stone Walls Restaurant and Bar is still shaken following an early-morning robbery in which she was the victim.

Word reaching SKNVibes is that earlier today (Aug. 5), Mestier was robbed at knife point while in the establishment at Princes Street in Basseterre.

When contacted by this media house, Mestier explained that sometime after 7:00 this morning, she has gone to the restaurant to allow employees of the supplier of gas onto the premises to deliver her weekly supply.

Mestier further explained that after the employees left the premises, she heard someone open the gate and she thought one of the gas men returned to collect something he might have forgotten, “so I wasn’t that perturbed”.

Her perception of the situation quickly changed, she explained, when she saw an individual wearing a stocking mask partially covering his face and a knife in hand. She said he grabbed the business’ float which was in a bag, after which he took her cellular telephone and smash it onto the ground.

Mestier said the perpetrator then fled the scene and she used her landline phone to report the incident to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force of which its members arrived sometime after 9:00 a.m.

She also declared that she is unaware whether the robber is an opportunist or he has been monitoring her movements. The entrepreneur however said that she does not “feel safe here anymore but we have to continue with business as usual”.

SKNVibes understands that in addition to this morning's robbery, the authorities are also making investigations into an incident of larceny that took place yesterday.

According to Inspector Zenhastel Hector, Public Relations Officer of the PoliceFforce, an employee of RAMS was en route to the bank to deposit monies when an individual approached her from behind and yanked the bag – containing the money – from her hand.

He, according to reports, was successful in removing the bag from the woman’s clutch and fled the scene. The incident took place at about mid-day.

Inspector Hector said no one is in custody in connection with this incident and he appealed to those who may have information to contact the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 465-2241 extension 230. He reminded that information could be given on condition of anonymity and would be treated confidentially.
