BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THIEVES continue to target business enterprises and the latest one to realise losses is Ma Pau Casino, situated at Port Zante in Basseterre.

Information reaching SKNVibes indicates that a thief or thieves broke into the building between the time it was secured (shortly after mid-night) and before employees turned up for work this morning (Nov. 1).

This media house learnt that a vault in the building was forced open and an undisclosed sum of money was removed.

When SKNVibes visited the location shortly after 10 this morning, the door to the Casino remained locked while some employees were seen milling about inside.

An attempt was made to speak with the manager but a female employee informed that he was unavailable at the time. However, on return later in the afternoon, another attempt was made to glean information, but a senior employee blatantly said, “I have nothing to say on the matter.”

SKNVibes however received confirmation of the break-in and robbery from a source close to the police, who informed that members of the Crime Scene Department had processed the scene and investigations are ongoing.

The source further informed that an individual was taken into custody and is currently assisting the police with their investigation into the matter.

In recent months, thieves had target a number of business enterprises including the Wellington Road Branch of the Royal Bank of Canada, the Sandy Point Branch of the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank, TDC’s Western Union outlet at West Independence Square Street, Gillards Gas Station at the West Basseterre By-pass Road, TDC’s Sandy Point Branch, and the Central Street Branch of NAGICO.
