BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AFTER two weeks of investigations, this media house has finally confirmed that two fifth semester students of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine were carjacked at the Frigate Bay Strip.

Speaking with SKNVibes, a source close to the two students said, “While they were pulling out of their parking space at Kathy’s around mid-night on Friday, February 25, 2011, a guy wearing a bandana on his face reached through the window and pulled the driver out of the car.

“He then drove off with the other girl still in the car. However, she put up a gigantic fight and managed to kick him in the head and face multiple times. By the time they got to the roundabout by Buddies, she had managed to keep slipping the car into neutral,” the source said.

The source further stated that the vehicle had stopped in the vicinity of Buddies Bar and Grill and “all the while she kept kicking him and screaming. Some ‘Rossies’ were nearby…they heard the screams and managed to get her out of the car, but the guy drove off and got away”.

When contacted, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) with responsibility for Crime, Ian Queeley confirmed that the incident did take place. He said the matter was reported at the Frigate Bay Police Outpost and officers had responded immediately but the carjacker and the car were not seen in the general area.

He however noted that a patrol from Ross University’s Security had found the vehicle on the following day and the police were notified.

Queeley added that the investigating officers had called the owner but they could not have gotten the vehicle to start, and it was towed away by security members of the university.

ACP Queeley said no one has so far been arrested but investigations into the incident are ongoing.
