(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS--THURSDAY, MAY 27TH, 2010) -  Nevis’ Drag Race strip in Butlers Village continued to receive regional admiration as delegates from the British Virgin Islands (BVI) visited Nevis last Monday to view the islands’ popular sports attraction. An estimated 1,500 persons attended the drag race event at Butlers, as part of the Winfest celebration events.

Premier of Nevis, Hon. Joseph Parry met with British Virgin Island Minister of Sports and Culture, Hon. Andrew Fahie, who commended the Premier and his Nevis Island Administration for their top class racing facility.

“It is the hope of my government to have a similar racing course in the BVI and I am here to witness the race course and all spectrums of the event,” commented Mr. Fahie.

After the Premier welcomed the Minister and his delegation to Nevis he said he was available to have discussions on the sporting facility and the economic challenges and rewards that the car track brought to Nevis.

“The car racing facility was part of our campaign promise in the 2006 election and we have built on the promise and made it a reality.

“I feel the car track is a great asset to the island as a sporting activity for young people, economic prosperity for the island and local vendors and an attractive boost for local Sports Tourism,” said the Premier.

While on Nevis, Minister Fahie and his eight member team, who came to Nevis via private charter- V.I Airlink, was also greeted by Deputy Premier and Minister of Sports in the Nevis Island Administration, Hon. Hensley Daniel at a breakfast meeting at the Oualie Beach Resort Restaurant.

After discussions with the Hon. Daniel, the BVI delegation had interviews with the Nevis Department of Information. The delegation invited the Premier and the Deputy Premier to the BVI so that they could reciprocate the hospitality.

Mr. Daniel conveyed the Administration’s warmest regards and he thanked the team for coming and observing the tournament.
