Decision under review to close TDC Sandy Point Branch

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WORD is out on the streets that the TDC Group of Companies would shortly close its Sandy Point Branch.

In an attempt to ascertain this rumour, SKNVibes contacted TDC’s Chief Executive Officer Michael Morton, who said no decision was made by the company to close the branch. He however declared that management is reviewing all entities that are experiencing challenges, including the Sandy Point Branch, and would inform the public if such decision is made.

Shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Friday (Odct. 29), two armed men robbed the Branch of an undisclosed sum of money. One was said to be wearing a ‘hoodie’ and armed with a handgun, while the other with what appeared to be an AK47.

Only days before that robbery the Branch was breached. Employees had secured the office on Saturday, October 16, but on their return the following Monday morning they discovered papers were strewn about and a vault that was left standing in an upright position was found on its back.

Senior Supervisor Leslian Daniel told SKNVibes that whoever the perpetrator(s) were, it appeared that they tried to open the vault but were unsuccessful in their attempt. He however informed that they made off with a number of small items from the entity.

The TDC Sandy Point Branch has been in operation since in the 1980’s and currently employs five persons.
