BASSETERRE St.Kitts - I wish the people of Sandy Point and Fig the very best for this Christmas and Carnival celebration. It is hard to imagine that an entire year has passed since the proud and hardworking people of the most forward looking and innovative this town reaffirmed their confidence in me when they reelected me as their parliamentary representative.
It has been an enjoyable experience service the people of my hometown over the last six years and I am truly grateful and humbled that the people have chosen to maintain our relationship. The people of Sandy Point and Fig Tree, like the rest of the country, have endured many trials over the course of the past year from severe difficulties with crime to almost constant power outages but, as a community, we have persevered.
I am proud to have been played a small part as community youth got together to for SPIRIT to ensure the renewal of community spirit and self help. I was especially proud of the Chambalay celebrations held last month which was the preview of the new community festival that will be organized next year. The young people of Sandy Point and Fig Tree but especially SPIRIT deserve our commendation for setting such a sterling example.
I also want to praise the re-establishment of the community market in Sandy Point. Again, it is native Sandy Pointers who were responsible for this effort to return this much needed and much appreciated amenity to the community of Sandy Point.
I wish to extend God’s blessing to all my constituents and all Kittitians and Nevisians at home and abroad for a peaceful Christmas and a Happy Carnival.
