    Three on trial for murder

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - SIX prosecution witnesses have so far testified in a case of murder brought against Fitzroy Challenger, Jamal Bradshaw and Gregory Anthony Zakers which began yesterday (Monday).
     
    The three young men were jointly accused of bringing the life of 16-year-old Josh Smithen of St. Pauls to a sudden and horrendous end.
     
    The incident occurred during the opening of St. Pauls’ Festival De Capisterre on September 8, 2006, when an altercation ensued between Smithen and others which resulted in him receiving a fatal stab to the head with an ice pick.
     
    Evidence was heard from Smithen’s mother Charlene Norford, Shenroy Francis, Wilhellmina Williams, Dr. Stephen Jones, Kahilia Challenger and Rochella Challenger.
     
    Francis testified that he was at the scene when the incident occurred and recounted the details to the jury and the court.
     
    Accused Fitzroy Challenger and Gregory Anthony Zakers are being represented by Hesketh Benjamin while Dr. Henry Browne is Jamal Bradshaw’s counsel.
     
    The seven man/five woman jury is scheduled to hear other evidence in the case today (Tuesday).
    Presiding Judge is resident Justice, His Lordship Francis Belle.
