$30,000 for marijuana, cocaine possession

~~Adz:Right~~CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – MAGISTRATE Yasmine Clarke on Monday imposed an EC$30 000 fine on Mervin Williams for being in possession of cannabis and cocaine.
According to Inspector Hilroy Brandy, at the time Clarke committed the offence, he was cohabiting with a Dominican Republic national, Lady Echabarsia Maralin, in Craddock Road.
Williams (25) was convicted for “possessing cannabis with intent to supply” and “possession of cocaine with intent to supply”. He pleaded guilty and accepted responsibility for his offences but Maralin, also 25 years old, was acquitted.
Williams was convicted and ordered to pay EC$20 000 for “possession of cocaine with intent to supply” and EC$10 000 for “possession of cannabis with intent to supply”.
Both fines are to be paid within six months and should he not meet the demand, he will be forced to be a guest at Her Majesty’s Prison for a 12-month period.
