BASSETERRE, St. Kitts-WHILE the Beijing Olympics may have closed on August 24, St. Kitts-Nevis’ presence in the international limelight will continue on through September as the Federation is to be featured in the debut episode of the new Food Network show Feasting on Waves.

The television show is a sequel to the hit show Feasting on Asphalt and is hosted by Alton Brown, star of such Food Network hits such as Good Eats and Iron Chef America.

According to a synopsis of the show, “Brown maintains the spirit of Feasting on Asphalt and seeks out the most authentic and traditional foods of the region and meets the people who created them.

“Restaurants are the most obvious targets but Feasting is about the unexpected, so Alton also ventures to find roadside stands, street vendors, farmer's markets, farms, spice houses and homes of local cooks who make specialties of the region.”

In a preview video clip of the show’s St. Kitts episode, entitled ‘Sugar on Isle One’, Brown is driven through Sandy Point by a guide as they search for ingredients to make bush tea.

After snatching some lemon grass and leaves from a soursop tree, Brown and his crew sample the Caribbean beverage and remark how much they enjoy its natural sweetness and soothing effects.  ~~Adz:Right~~

Also to be featured in the episode is Brown’s “history lesson” in the role sugar cane played in the Federation and Caribbean as a whole.

From St. Kitts, Brown will set sail to various other Leeward Islands before moving on to the British Virgin Islands.

The ‘Sugar on Isle One’ episode of Feasting on Waves will debut on the Food Network (Channel 24) on September 7 at 10p.m. Eastern Standard Time, and will be rerun at various times until the next week’s episode.
