BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A young woman is currently warded at the Joseph N France General Hospital after she was shot last night (Dec. 1) in the vicinity of  her Taylors Housing Project home.

According to an informed source, at about 9:00 p.m., while 18-year-old Tanice Johnson was on her way home from work, a young man was walking in front of her when she heard the report of gunfire coming from a car in the rear.

The source claimed that the bullet, which was intended for the young man, struck Johnson on her left leg and she was taken to the hospital by her mother.

When contacted, the Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Cromwell Henry, confirmed the shooting incident and stated that police are investigating.

This has been the second incident in as many days where innocent bystanders suffered injuries at the hands of gunmen in St. Kitts.

Last Sunday, at about 3:15 a.m., two masked gunmen shot and killed Desroy ‘Shootout’ Walwyn and Trevon ‘Waxy’ Francis and injured six persons in the vicinity of Henry’s Night Spot in Cayon.

Reports state that most, if not all, of those injured were innocent bystanders.
