BASSETERRE, St. Kitts-FOUR persons managed to walk away from a horrific crash with only minor injuries this afternoon (Jan. 31) when two cars collided in West Basseterre.
Just before 4 p.m. a Toyota Camry, PA 1149 was travelling east along Cayon Street near the Dr. William Connor Primary School and while attempting to make a right turn onto Burden Street, it crashed head-on into a westbound headed Nissan Sunny, P 2646,.
The collision totaled both vehicles, which were left with significant damage to the front panels, engine compartments, windscreens and front axles.
Fortunately both the driver of the Toyota, Lorenzo Foster, the driver of the Nissan, Kervin Rouse, and the passenger in each vehicle were able escape the devastating crash with only minor injuries.
SKNVibes spoke to an Emergency Medical Services worker at the scene of the accident and was informed that Foster suffered an injury to his right wrist, while his passenger was taken to the Joseph N. France Hospital for observation after complaining of chest pains from the car’s deployed airbag.
The emergency personnel further stated that one person from the Rouse vehicle had suffered a moderate laceration and was also taken to the hospital, though he did not know if it was Rouse or his passenger.
Debris and glass from the collision were scattered up to 20 feet away, causing the intersection along Cayon Street to be closed for well over an hour while workers removed the cars and cleaned the roadway.
Police officials from the Traffic Department at the scene said that when their investigations were complete they would issue an official statement on the incident.
