By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A stray cattle was the cause of an accident which left two vehicles with extensive damage and one individual in “serious condition”.

The incident took place at about 10:00 on Wednesday evening (Apr. 15) on the Island’s Main Road in the vicinity of Tabernacle and Harris’ at a place called ‘Dulson’, but more commonly referred to as ‘Almond Walk’.

Information reaching SKNVibes indicates that the cattle ran from the mountain side of the road, presumably to get to the other side. However, before it could get to the other side, it collided with motor jeep P4174 which was travelling in an eastwardly direction.

The information, given by the Police Press and Public Relations Office, further states that the impact caused the animal to become airborne and was thrown onto a motor Omni bus HA76 which was travelling in the opposite direction.

The passengers of the bus, along with the driver Leon McSheen of Saddlers, escaped the incident unscathed. However, the owner and driver of the jeep, Reece Liburd of Molineaux, reportedly sustained injuries and was listed as being in “serious condition”.

The Police Press and Public Relations Office also reported that the animal died on the scene and was removed.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
